Sessions & learning outcomes.

All of the activity programmes through every course and age group are of high quality and have been proven safe and suitable for children. The activities that we cover are also proven successful as they have been designed and developed by experienced teachers, advisors and inspectors with many years of experience.

The lesson plans develop from familiarisation to co-ordination, basic game activities through to progressive skill practices and into game specific practices and development. The game activities include sports such as tennis, football, rugby, hockey, cricket, volleyball, rounders, netball and basketball

Registration / Meet & Greet:

Each session will begin with a meet and great between the coaches, children and parents. This is a good time for parents / carers to ask any questions they may have. The coaches also need to take a register and make the children feel welcome and comfortable.

Warm Up:

Every session will begin with a warm up. This is essential for the children to warm up their joints and muscles and sharpen their senses and reactions for the activities ahead. Through carefully selected activities related to age groups, the warm up is designed to raise heart rates as well as being as much fun as possible.

Games / Activities:

Games and activities play a large part in our sessions. They are designed to promote interaction and teamwork amongst the children as well as spacial awareness and improved communication.

Sports / Skills:

During the sport / skill part of the session, children will start to develop their motor skills, reactions, awareness and co-ordination using a variety of equipment including balls, bats, rackets, sticks, hoops, bean bags, cones etc. Our aim is to introduce as many sports as possible for variety and to find the hidden potential in all of us!

Break:

There will usually be some sort of water or toilet break depending on the length of the session. These are well structured and organised as appropriate.

Goodbye!:

There will be a couple minutes allocated at the end of the session to sum up what they have done and for parents / carers to ask the coaches any questions they may have.

BENEFITS OF A YOUNGSTARS SESSION

There are many fundamental physical benefits to a Youngstars session; improved motor skills, better balance and coordination, development of hand to eye coordination.

The activities work all major muscle groups in the body in multi directional movements; throwing, catching, running, jumping.

The children will develop spatial awareness and respect for other's personal space.

On a social level, Youngstars has seen time and time again improved confidence in children that were reluctant or shy but given the encouragement they will flourish and express themselves through physical activity.

To give a focus and a channel for physical exertion children have been reported to be better behaved and more attentive.

Sessions are designed to be fun but at the same time disciplined, they will therefore learn to follow instruction and respect an authority figure other than their parents or carer.
